Market demand will continue to grow
According to China Insights Consultancy, China’s medical imaging equipment market reached 52.4 billion yuan in 2021, growing at a CAGR of 9.7% from 2015 to 2021, and is expected to reach 111.5 billion yuan by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 8.8% from 2021 to 2030.
Taking the CT field as an example, the global CT market size of about $14.6 billion in 2021 is expected to reach about $24.2 billion in 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 5.8%. From the perspective of the global market, developed countries in Europe and the United States have entered a period of steady growth, the future major growth of the global CT market will come from developing countries in Asia-Pacific, South America, the Middle East and South Africa, and other regions, which are limited by their own level of economic development and the level of manufacturing industry, these regions are mainly dependent on imports of CT equipment. In the past a long time China’s high-end medical imaging equipment market has been monopolised by foreign companies.
In terms of CT ownership, China reached 24,743 units in 2019, but there was a significant gap with developed countries. in 2019, Japan and the United States per million people CT per capita ownership of about 111 units and 44 units, respectively, during the same period, China was about 18 units, only about one-sixth of Japan and the United States and one-third, there is still more room for growth.
Accompanied by the increase in investment and construction of China’s primary medical facilities, the CT field has also seen faster growth. The trend of import substitution of domestic brands is also becoming more and more obvious, and the market share of imported brands is showing a downward trend.China’s CT market size reached about 15.8 billion yuan in 2021, and is expected to reach 33.1 billion yuan in 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 8.5%.
From the perspective of the Chinese market, China’s per capita ownership of CT equipment in 2022 was 31.73 units per million people, with a large growth space, while with the gradual localisation and high-end of China’s CT equipment, China’s CT equipment ownership will grow steadily in the future.
