In 2022, the number of medical device manufacturers in China reached 33,788, with Hainan, Hunan and Guizhou ranking the top three in terms of growth rate
01 General Overview
According to MDCLOUD statistics, as of December 31, 2022, the number of medical device manufacturers in China reached 33,788, a year-on-year increase of 16.7% compared with 28,954 in 2021.

02 Guangdong Province maintains the first place in the number of production enterprises
In 2022, the number of medical device manufacturers in China continued to increase, among which Guangdong ranked first with 5,966. Jiangsu and Shandong ranked second and third with 4,110 and 3,870, respectively. Ranking 4-10 are Zhejiang Province (2,628), Hebei Province (1,983), Henan Province (1,587), Hubei Province (1,483), Shanghai (1,214), Hunan Province (1,174) and Beijing (1,126).
03.The number of enterprises of Class Ⅱ and Ⅲ can be produced in each province (autonomous region, municipality directly under the Central Government)
(1) There are 500 Class III enterprises in Jiangsu Province
By December 31, 2022, the number of Class III enterprises in Jiangsu ranked first in China with 500, accounting for 21.63%. Beijing and Guangdong ranked second and third with 321 and 273, respectively, accounting for 13.88% and 11.81%. Ranking 4-10 are Shanghai (242), Zhejiang (214), Shandong (138), Tianjin (91), Hubei (64), Henan (57) and Sichuan (56).
（2）The number of Class II enterprises that can be produced in Guangdong Province reached 2856
By December 31, 2022, Guangdong Province ranked first in China with 2,856 enterprises capable of producing Class II, accounting for 18.03%. Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province ranked the second and third with 2,042 and 1,188, accounting for 12.89% and 7.49% respectively. Shandong Province (1,089 companies), Hunan Province (819 companies), Henan Province (715 companies), Beijing (654 companies), Hebei Province (624 companies), Shanghai (618 companies) and Hubei Province (577 companies) ranked 4th to 10th.
04. Growth rate of enterprises capable of producing Class II and Class III
（1）Hainan Province led the way with 32.26% growth in the number of producers
In 2022, the growth rate of the number of Class III enterprises that can produce medical devices nationwide ranked first in Hainan Province, with a growth rate of 32.26%. Hunan Province and Guizhou Province ranked second and third with 29.44% and 28.66% respectively; Shandong Province, Hubei Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region followed closely.
(2) The number of Class III enterprises that can be produced in Hunan Province increased by 107.69%
In 2022, Hunan Province ranked first with a growth rate of 107.69%, followed by Hainan Province and Anhui Province with 40.00% and 28.57%, respectively. Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Fujian Province and Hebei Province followed suit.
(3) The number of enterprises in Guangxi that can produce Class II increased at the highest rate of 37.64%
In 2022, Hunan Province and Guizhou Province ranked second and third in the growth rate of the number of enterprises that can produce medical devices in Class II with 33.61% and 30.77%, followed by Heilongjiang Province, Hebei Province and Yunnan Province.
