Chinese Endoscopy Market, Latest Sales Data Released!

Brand share ranking

In the first quarter of 2024, the top five companies in China’s digestive endoscopy market share were Olympus, Fuji, Sono Scape, Aohua, and Hoya, with a total market share of nearly 97%. Among them, Kaikai and Aohua, two domestic brands, accounted for about 21% of the market share

Imported brands still dominated, with a market share of over 76%. Among the top five brands, Olympus, Sono Scape, and Aohua all achieved year-on-year market share growth, with the domestic brand Aohua Endoscopy experiencing the largest growth rate of 3.44%.

Regional market analysis

From a regional market perspective, Olympus rankde first in market share in 19 regions including Guangdong, Shandong, and Jiangsu; Secondly, Fuji ranked first in six regions including Sichuan, Hubei, and Guizhou; Hoya ranked first in Jilin; Domestic brands were ranked first in Zhejiang and Gansu provinces, while Aohua was ranked first in Tianjin city.

Among them, the seven regional markets of Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Heilongjiang, Tianjin, Ningxia, Shanxi, and Hainan are dominated by a single brand, accounting for more than 70% of the market. Especially in Hainan Province, Fuji occupied 100% of the market.

Procurement situation of hospitals at all levels

From the perspective of hospital procurement, tertiary hospitals contributed 65.07% of the share of digestive endoscopy in the first quarter, an increase of 8.79% compared to the same period last year.

From the procurement proportion of different brands in hospitals of different levels, domestic brands had a higher market share in second level hospitals than in third level hospitals.

Significant increase in endoscopic exports

In terms of overseas markets, according to data released by CHINA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF MEDICINES, in 2024, China’s foreign trade in medical devices started steadily and improved, with a total import and export volume of 19.637 billion US dollars in the first quarter, a slight increase of 0.21% year-on-year. Among them, the export value was 10.993 billion US dollars, an increase of 1.69% year-on-year. After experiencing negative growth for four quarters, it finally returned to a positive growth track.
In the first quarter, as the largest export sub category of medical devices in China, the export value of hospital diagnosis and treatment products was 4.96 billion US dollars, a slight increase of 0.31% year-on-year, basically unchanged from the same period last year. Among them, the export value of products such as artificial joints, endoscopes, complete sets of magnetic resonance imaging devices, and parts of magnetic resonance devices has increased significantly.
