Chinese scientists have developed a new type of abdominal wall tissue repair material, which has the characteristics of anti- deformation, anti- adhesion and promoting healing. The researchers were inspired by the asymmetric structure of peritoneum, and developed a new biocompatible polyvinyl alcohol hydrogel with biocompatibility through the top-down solvent exchange lyophilization Rehydration Strategy to achieve efficient repair of internal soft tissue defects. Studies have shown that the design of hydrogel materials with unique and two-sided structure on the regulation of surface porous structure is an effective research idea for developing advanced patches with multiple functional requirements, and is expected to become an ideal material for clinical tension-free soft tissue repair.
