Bradynuoen Shares Design Specifications of INTUBATION PROTECTIVE SYSTEM against COVID-19
In order to reduce the risk of infection for doctors fighting against COVID-19, Bradynuoen designed and manufactured the INTUBATION PROTECTIVE SYSTEM based on the inspiration from the front-line doctors in Leishenshan Hospital, Wuhan, China. This device will block the sputtering of droplets and suck out the aerosol by negative pressure for harmlessization.
This device has been applied in Leishenshan Hospital, Wuhan, China with intended use for various infectious procedures to protect the operators. This product is classified as Class I in China.
Indications: 1) tracheal intubation insertion and removal in severe patients; 2) the sampling process of respiratory secretions of suspected patients; 3) daily negative pressure isolation for severe patients; 4) protection during deep venipuncture catheterization.
This device can be improved as followings: 1) the position of operation hole should be lowered by 5-10 cm for Asian population, and to be determined for other population; 2) under the condition of non-negative pressure, the operation hole should be modified into a sealing structure; 3) the position and quantity of pipeline ports could be changed depending on local hospitals; 4) the form of sealing shade could be modified for better sealing; 5) additional negative pressure device at the end of the device can be installed to further reduce aerosol leakage; 6) soft connection is recommended for connection between operation hole and protective system, which is more convenient for doctors to operate; 7) hydrophilic anti-fogging coating is recommended on the inner surface of protective system, while permanent coating or temporary coating can be selected according to the disinfection method; 8) a three-stage device of 75% ethanol solution + purified water + activated carbon is suggested to use for virus treatment at negative pressure source end.
The inspiration of this device was from Bao Wei (Postdoctor at MD Anderson Cancer Center), Zhou Yan (Postdoctor at Columbia University) and Zhang Pengyu (Visiting Scholar at MD Anderson Cancer Center) in Leishenshan Hospital team from Shanghai General Hospital.
Bradynuoen is publicly posting design specifications for Intubation Protective System to allow innovators, inventors, start-ups, academic institutions etc. to leverage your own expertise and resources to fight against COVID-19. Bradynuoen will hold Zoom T-Conferences for you to discuss technical and clinical questions with our engineers and Chinese clinical doctors during your manufacturing, application and improvement of this device.
