In the second quarter, China’s Medical Equipment Industry Operation Index (Composite Index) increased by 9.1 points month-on-month.
In the second quarter of 2025, China’s Medical Equipment Industry Operation Index (Composite Index) was 142.9, an increase of 9.1 points from the previous quarter and 10.5 points year-on-year.
The investment activity in the second quarter was 113.1, with a month-on-month increase of 18.7, and investment confidence is picking up.
Looking at the sub-indices, in the second quarter, the industry prosperity index was 148.4, an increase of 12.1 points year-on-year; the enterprise growth index was 154.1, a decrease of 0.4 points year-on-year; the R&D innovation index was 146.5, an increase of 14.8 points year-on-year; and the investment activity index was 113.1, an increase of 20.5 points year-on-year.
Among the secondary indices, 9 indices rose, and 2 indices fell. Nine of the secondary indices rose, while two declined. In the second quarter, the financing amount in the venture capital market increased by 57.1 points year-on-year, the number of innovative products rose by 35.9 points year-on-year, the total amount of tender purchases grew by 18.1 points year-on-year, the registration quantity of Class Ⅱ and Ⅲ products went up by 7.3 points year-on-year, the proportion of R&D investment increased by 5.2 points year-on-year, the CSI Medical Index rose by 4.1 points year-on-year, the number of patent authorizations grew by 3.7 points year-on-year, the import and export trade volume increased by 1.7 points year-on-year, and the IPO investment amount rose by 0.7 points year-on-year. Meanwhile, the sales volume of key enterprises decreased by 2.8 points year-on-year, and the market value of listed enterprises dropped by 3.0 points year-on-year.
Jiangsu Province leads with 160.4, a year-on-year increase of 16.9 points, with the highest growth rate.
Looking at key provinces and municipalities, in the second quarter, the Medical Equipment Industry Operation Index (comprehensive index) was 160.4 in Jiangsu Province, an increase of 16.9 points year-on-year; 146.1 in Shanghai, an increase of 16.8 points year-on-year; 132.7 in Shandong Province, an increase of 3.7 points year-on-year; 130.8 in Zhejiang Province, a decrease of 2.2 points year-on-year; 130.4 in Guangdong Province, an increase of 3.5 points year-on-year; and 129.8 in Beijing, an increase of 3.8 points year-on-year.
In terms of the sub-indices of key provinces, in the second quarter, only Zhejiang Province saw a year-on-year decrease of 2.8 points in the industry prosperity index; in terms of enterprise growth, Jiangsu Province, Beijing, and Shanghai achieved year-on-year increases of 12.4 points, 9.8 points, and 7.0 points respectively, while Guangdong Province experienced a year-on-year decrease of 12.8 points; regarding R&D and innovation, Jiangsu Province had a year-on-year increase of 16.4 points, Guangdong Province rose by 15.0 points year-on-year, Shanghai grew by 1.9 points year-on-year, and Beijing dropped by 18.7 points year-on-year; all regions showed growth in investment activity, with Jiangsu Province having the largest increase, up 30.9 points year-on-year.
The Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration stands at 153.7 points, leading the nation.
Looking at key urban agglomerations, in the second quarter, the Medical Equipment Industry Operation Index (comprehensive index) for the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration was 153.7, an increase of 14.1 points year-on-year; for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration, it was 134.4, an increase of 10.6 points year-on-year; for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, it was 132.0, an increase of 3.5 points year-on-year; and for the Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration, it was 119.4, an increase of 5.8 points year-on-year.
In terms of the sub-indices of key urban agglomerations, both the industry prosperity and investment activity showed an upward trend in the second quarter. Among them, the industry prosperity of the Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration increased by 13.4 points year-on-year, the investment activity of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration rose by 39.7 points year-on-year, the enterprise growth of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area decreased by 14.4 points year-on-year, and the R&D and innovation level of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration dropped by 1.6 points year-on-year.
